RESIDENCE IN GLYFADA
New Detached House with a Study of Conversion into a Residential Building with the Addition of an Additional 2nd Floor Apartment.
Its Design was Made According to the Needs of a Modern Four-Member Family.
It is Developed on Two Levels, Two Distinct Volumes. The Ground Floor Includes the Functions Related to the Social Life of the Family, While the First Floor Contains the More Private Spaces.
The Main Entrance of the House, Located on the Street, Creates Conditions of Privacy, Leaving Only the Main Entrance Door and the Ascent to the House from the Terraces to Mark the Entrance to the Building. The House is Thus Turned Towards the Surrounding Space, with the Large Openings Unifying the Interior and Exterior Space, Forming a Living Condition, Where the Experience of the Surrounding Space and Nature Becomes a Dominant Element.
The lower volume, almost in contact with the ground and the lush vegetation, is in dark tones, while the first floor slides slightly, with its light-colored massing emphasizing this shift. The living room between the bedrooms on the upper floor is a common reference point, with the exit to the balcony offering a prominent view of the garden. At the same time, shading devices regulate the sunlight on the upper floor, thus helping to shade the balconies.
Particular attention was given to the design of the surrounding area of the residence. Rich planting throughout the surface of the surrounding area, creating a sense of privacy at the boundaries of the plot but also of a green oasis inside.
